For a DSG transmission, it is recommended to wait a few moments after starting the engine before shifting the selector lever to the D position. This allows the transmission fluid to warm up slightly, which helps improve the overall performance and longevity of the transmission. Waiting for about 30 seconds to a minute before shifting to Drive is a good practice to follow after a cold start with a DSG transmission. **
